Congratulations to 9th grade English teacher Sandi McElravy and her husband Bryan on the birth of their daughter Peyton! Peyton was born on June 10, weighs 7 lbs., 8 oz., and is 22" long.
Haley and John planted flowers provided by Panther Peers near the Ross McGinnis memorial bench. Congratulations to 7th grade Reading teacher Mrs. McGiffin and her husband on the birth of their daughter, Kenzie Erin. Kenzie weighed 8 lbs., 9 oz. and  is 21" long. She was born on June 6.
Congratulations to our All-KSAC selections for Track and Field: Sara, 2nd team, discus; Dylan, 1st team, pole vault; and Emily, 1st team, pole vault. Congratulations to Ally and Kayla, who received the Girl Scout Gold Award, the highest award that can be earned by Girl Scouts.
Congratulations to our all-KSAC baseball and softball selections--Zach, Heidi, and Kenny. All were named to the 2nd team. Congratulations to Brett and Dan, who were named to the KSAC All-Conference Teams for Track and Field. Dan made 1st team for the 300 hurdles, and Brett was named to the 1st team for the 100 and long jump and 2nd team for the 200 and triple jump.

Jenessa won the Mary Kay Hartle Award for highest achievement, and Dane is the valedictorian. Congratulations! Jenna, ZoAnn, and Dylan competed in the PA State Computer Fair at Dickinson College.

Students in Mr. Carrow's Digital Photography class took 1st, 2nd, and 3rd places in a logo contest sponsored by the Clarion County Airport. Amanda won the contest with Becca placing 2nd and Tabby, 3rd. Congratulations!
Brett and Dan participated in the PIAA State Track and Field meet based on their performances at Districts. They were also named to the KSAC All-Conference Teams for Track and Field. Chelsea (left) and Marina participated in the "24" Tournament at Riverview IU 6, and Marina took 4th place in the 7th/8th grade competition. Congratulations! Trisha and Kyle spent some quality time with Mr. Rogers at the John Heinz History Center in Pittsburgh during their Spanish class field trip. The students also enjoyed an authentic Spanish meal at Mallorca.
Dalton, Molly, Sara, and Tyler attended a Clarion County Youth Forum meeting at CUP. This program was developed by Clarion County's Promise, Inc. to give area youth a chance to be leaders for positive change in their schools and communities. Congratulations to Paige, the Knox Lions' "Student of the Month" for April!

Congratulations to Tanner for being selected to the District 9 All-Star AA Wrestling 1st team! Congratulations to Sara, who broke the school record for discus at the track meet vs. A-C Valley. Sarah threw for 103 ft., 1/2 inch.
Congratulations to Mrs. McElravy, the 2010 KHS Keystones Technology Integrator! Read more about the program. After lengthy application processes, Walker (left) was chosen to attend the Rivers Conservation and Fly Fishing Youth Camp in Boiling Springs this June. Nick will attend the Wildlife Leadership Academy on Pennsylvania bucktails this July. Nick was one of only 12 males in the state chosen for this camp. Congratulations, guys!

Students in Mrs. Irwin's Traffic Safety classes
used their Macbooks and Garageband software to create public service announcements on the dangers of distracted driving. Mr. Kifer then took the four students pictured above to the C-93 radio station in Clarion to record their announcements. They will air on both C-93 (92.7 FM) and Radio 13 AM 1300)!

Tuesdae participated in the PMEA State Band in PIttsburgh in April. Congratulations! Congratulations to the jr. high volleyball team for their 1st place finish at the Clarion tournament in April!
Zach is enrolled in a 10-month course at the Iron City Wrestling Academy in Pittsburgh. He hopes to become a pro wrestler and to start performing once he completes his training. Good luck, Zach! Congratulations, John! John's score on the 2009 PSAT/NMSQT test placed him among the highest-scoring 50,000 students of some 1.5 million who entered the 2011 National Merit Scholarship Program.
Congratulations to Dan, Samantha, and Ben, who participated in the Kozel District 9 All-Star Basketball Games. Congratulations to Morgan, who was named District 9 girls' basketball "Rookie of the Year!" She was also selected to the D9 1st team.

Students from the Diesel Tech shop at the Career Center attended the Mid-American Truck Show in Louisville, KY, and brought home 4 awards. Congratulations, guys!

KHS was well represented at the Regional Computer Fair at IU 6. L to R: Sarah (digital movie), ZoAnn (1st, desktop publishing), Jenna (2nd, desktop publishing), Jennifer (2nd, logo), and Dylan (1st, logo) were invited to attend the State Computer Fair at Dickinson College in May. Shelby and Tuesdae represented KHS at PMEA Regional Band in March at Oil City High School. Congrats to Tuesdae, who was also selected to participate in State Band!
Congratulations to Seth, the Knox Lions "Student of the Month" for March! Congrats to Destiny, who won $100 as one of the top two fundraisers at the Career Center!

Congratulations to our All-KSAC basketball honorees: 
Morgan, 1st team; Dan and Ben, 2nd team; and Jillian, 3rd team.
Our cheerleaders made us proud at Nationals in Cleveland. Junior high won their division, and varsity took third (7 points from 1st) in their division. JAKES Fly High (Jessica, Allison, Taylor, Erica & Sheleena) were named stunt group champs while Fight Like a Girl (Lexi, Jayme, Emma, Ashten & Emily) took 2nd place.  Kayla took 1st place in the 15-16 yr old Showstopper division and Emma took 2nd place in the 15-16 yr. old Best Cheerleader division. Congratulations to all!

Congratulations to our cheerleaders:  varsity and jr high both won their divisions at the Yellowjacket Jam at Girard. Fight Like a Girl stunt group won best stunts, Megan won Showstopper division, Kayla took 5th in Cheer Solo and Emma won Cheer Solo. Students representing KHS at District Band in February at A-C Valley included (l to r) Ally, Shelby, Faith, Tuesdae, and Katie.

"Fight Like a Girl" stunt group took first at the Keystone Classic Cheer Competition.  Emma also won the individual division, and Aimee won the varsity jump off.  The Jr. High team won their division, and varsity took 2nd in the varsity division. Jessica won the jr. high jump off and tumble off. 
Samantha, an 8th grader, and 5th graders Eric and Tanner are participating in the Tech4S program through IU 6. Read more.
Wrestling News
Congrats to Zach, who placed 2nd in the District 9 AA wrestling championships and who also became the Panthers' career win leader (97) with a 3-2 record at the Clearfield Duals. Congratulations also to John S., who went 5-0 on the day.
Victoria (left) presented a $1,000 check to Cindy Callihan from the American Cancer Society. Panther Peers donated $864 raised at a benefit concert that Victoria organized recently, and Student Government added $136.

Tuesdae participated in IUP Honors Band recently, while Becca, Jake H., Shelby, Jake S., Katie, Ally, and Skyler were selected for the IU 6 Honors Band. Congratulations!
Congratulations to Tanner, District 9 wrestling champion at 140 lbs. Congrats also for winning the 135 lb. weight class at the Corry Tournament! Tanner was 7-0 for the weekend.
Morgan and Samantha were named to the All-Tournament Team at the Coudersport basketball tournament. The Lady Panthers finished second. Zach (December) and Samantha (November) were selected as Knox Lions "Students of the Month."

Congratulations to the Panthers basketball team for winning the Keystone Tip-off Tournament and to the Lady Panthers for their 2nd place finish at Brookville. Dan (MVP), Morgan, and Ben were selected to all-tournament teams.
Congratulations to Kenny, who took 1st place at 189 lbs. at the Eisenhower Kick-off Wrestling Tournament!
Congratulations to Heidi (right), the 2009 recipient of the Ross McGinnis Honor Service Award and Kayla, recipient of the Bronze Service Award. Ashley spearheaded a "Toys for Tots" collection drive with Panther Peers to collect Christmas toys for less fortunate children. She is pictured with a local "Toys for Tots" representative who picked up the gifts for distribution.
KHS students who participated in County Band, which was held at Clarion High School, included (l to r) Jake, Braden, Victoria, Katie, Amy, Shelby, Nikki, and Becca. KHS faculty toured Swartfager Welding and Matric Electronics on a recent Act 80 Day to witness first hand what students should know and be able to do upon graduation. More information and pictures.

Congratulations to Dan, the Knox Lions "Student of the Month" for September. Vietnam War veteran and local attorney Ralph Montana was the guest speaker at our Veteran's Day assembly. He is pictured with Dan, Student Government president. Mr. Montana shared this poem in honor of the helicopter pilot he mentioned at the assembly. See pictures from our assembly.

Students (pictured), faculty, and staff once again showed their support for cancer awareness and research by wearing pink.
Congratulations to Jillian and John, who were selected to participate in the World Affairs Institute in Pittsburgh on November 18. The World Affairs Institute is designed to introduce high school student leaders to international affairs of great importance to the United States and thereby to help them better understand the increasingly complex and interrelated world in which they will live and make their careers.
Winners of the Red Ribbon Week window decorating contest were (front, l. to r.) Samantha, Liz, Alicia, Kiersten, Kiana, (back, l to r.) Keshia, Kari, Jena, Natalie, Emily, and Faith. Not pictured: Richele. Each winning group decorated a window in the cafeteria. The volleyball team traveled to State College with Coach Irwin to attend a Penn State volleyball game vs. Purdue. Seniors hanging out on the Nittany lion include Ashley, Jenny, Holly, Dani, Heidi, and Heather.
Dylan, KHS soccer player and kicker for the football team, collected pledges or donations for each field goal or extra point he kicked or soccer goal he scored. Congrats to Dan and Samantha, our '09 Homecoming King and Queen! Congrats to Emily, who broke the A-C Valley girls' junior high cross country course record by 3 seconds! Emily also placed 3rd out of 113 competitors at the Rocky Grove Invitational!

Panthers fans urged the football team to "Black out the Bobcats" during Homecoming week.
9th Grade officers include Alex, president; Jenna, treasurer; Sadie, secretary; and Kyle, vice president. An outdoor assembly kicked off the Olweus Bullying  Prevention Program at KHS. Students participated in a variety of activities.
Officers for the 8th Grade class include (L to R) Colin, vice president; Damien, treasurer; Eli, president; and Dustin, secretary. The newly elected 7th grade class officers are Maddie, secretary; Halie, vice president; Chevy, treasurer; and Olivia, president.

The KHS Varsity and Jr High cheerleaders excelled at NCA Camp in July.
The varsity squad earned a bid to Nationals, the SPOT award for never dropping a flyer all week at camp, and the Spirit Stick each night! Five of the varsity cheerleaders (Brittney, Emma, Aimee, Jessica, and Kayla) made the All-American team and are eligible to participate in Thanksgiving Day parades in Hawaii and Philadelphia. The competition team captains (Lexi, Jayme, Ashten, and Allison) are also eligible to cheer in the Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade. The Jr. High cheerleaders also earned a bid to Nationals and a Spirit Stick at camp. Congratulations to all!
Several current KHS students and recent grads participated in a Princess Party to benefit the Clarion Chapter of the American Red Cross.

Congrats to the 09-10 football team for their 1st place overall finish at the Sheffield football competition. They also took 1st in the 7-on-7 event and 2nd in the linemen challenge. Way to go, guys!
